2018 London Injectables Masterclass

I was thrilled and honoured to be invited to a 2-day Masterclass in London in early March, hosted by Allergan, the manufacturers of Botox® and Juvederm® dermal fillers. I was especially lucky to be able to get there in the snow – 100 delegates (out of the 250 invited in the UK) had been unable to travel! This is the 6th time I have seen Mauricio de Maio, a Brazilian plastic surgeon recognised as THE leading injector of dermal fillers in the world. Mauricio has pioneered injection procedures – having invented the 8-Point Face Lift and refined the technique each […]

Paint Altrincham Pink

This week is ‘Paint Altrincham Pink’ week, in support of the excellent Prevent Breast Cancer charity. There’s a whole range of events going on locally, aimed at raising funds AND awareness of this charity, the only UK breast cancer charity funding research solely aimed at preventing the disease. I’m sure we all know somebody who has been affected by breast cancer. On a personal basis I have several close friends who fit into that category. And so we are delighted to join with fellow Altrincham businesses in taking part in the campaign. At BrightNewMe we are running a prize draw, […]

Not so – Botox (or botulinum toxin A to give it its full name) is a muscle-relaxant, weakening those specific muscles which cause frown lines to appear. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, contain a gel-like substance, which sits underneath the skin, to either add volume to the area or ‘fill’ […]

Insights from the Aesthetic world, London September 2016

This last month saw two hugely important events in the aesthetic calendar for UK practitioners, and I am delighted to say that I was present for both. The first was hosted by Allergan Medical Institute, marking the ten-year anniversary of Botox® receiving its license in the UK for the treatment of frown lines. The conference was led by Dr Arthur Swift (pictured left), a pioneering and world renowned plastic surgeon from Canada.  His lecture was inspiring, focussing on the use of “phi” (also known as the golden ratio) when assessing facial proportions. This ratio (1:1.6) was first identified by Leonardo […]
